Summary Using the Macromedia Flash authoring tool, flash developers architect, design and execute the framework, components and script that compromise Flash projects. You will work closely with project teams that include creative and technical members such as Graphic Designers, Web Developers, Application Developers and Database Administrators. The Flash Developer works to balance technical requirements with creative needs. The Flash Developer is expected to design with re-usability in mind, research and implement innovative scripting techniques and be up to speed on the latest Flash enhancements and versions. Education * High school diploma. * A post-secondary degree or diploma in an IT related discipline, or equivalent experience. Experience * 3+ years of professional experience in developing Internet applications and Flash based games/applications utilizing Flash, PHP, CSS and XML; experience working with high traffic websites preferred. * 3+ years of development experience with Macromedia Flash, including object oriented ActionScript 1 and ActionScript 2; experience with multi-use environments preferred. * Experience with source control (e.g. CVS) software. * Experience with use of relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) a plus. I solid understanding of the DOM is essential. * Web-page development (Dreamweaver etc..), CSS, HTML, Javascript. Should be able to link Flash Applications and Web Pages via Javascript. * Experience using Adobe creative suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) Reporting Relationship:The Flash Developer reports to the Vice President, Operations Authorities: The following are principal authorities granted to the Flash Developer: * Exercise the responsibilities and perform the duties of this position. This includes full decisionmaking authority for all responsibilities and duties. * Randomly audit and report compliance to processes throughout the business. * Set commitment dates for projects. Responsibilities The Flash Developer is responsible for ensuring the following direct reports complete the duties of their assigned position: * No Direct Reports Principal Duties Technical * Work closely with designers to ensure that creative intent and results are achieved at the highest level * Design and develop the Front-end UI according to user JAD sessions and previously captured requirements. * Work closely with application developers as well as database administrators to ensure technical integration and the meeting of requirements * Interact with project teams to understand business and user requirements to determine minimum specifications for Flash development Planning * Participate in the software development process from design to release. * Collaborate with technical team members to determine the most appropriate, robust implementation of Flash Personal Development * Breaking new ground, researching and implementing innovative Flash techniques and features Other * Ensure that best-practices are followed and that code is optimized in order to ensure that applications are operating as efficiently as possible on a high traffic website. * Authoring technical briefs for client approval and project development * Maintain high coding standards and practices and exercise quality control on all aspects of Flash development | ||||||||||||||||||
